RIYADH — Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) participated in worldwide celebrations of the World Heritage Day that took place simultaneously in the historic Al-Turaif District in the historic Diriyah and historical Jeddah. The celebrations were organized by the Saudi National Committee of the International Council of Monuments and Historic Sites (Saudi ICOMOS), in partnership with a number of heritage-related authorities, it was reported here Monday. The event, which took place Sunday, witnessed the honoring of three Saudi youths for their distinguished video researches. They are Abdulaziz Al-Ghamdi, Mortada Al-Hassan and Ali Basnabel respectively. The winners received prizes in the field of short video, photography, drawing, and heritage essay. The spokesman for the Diriyah Gate Thamer Al-Sudairy, thanked the role of all partners, on top of them Saudi ICOMOS, and their blessed efforts to celebrate this special day, citing Diriyah place in the hearts of Saudis because of its great history and glorious legacy from the era of the first Saudi State to the present day. The ceremony was attended by Prince Saud Bin Abdulaziz Bin Farhan, vice-chairman of Saudi ICOMOS, Eng. Muhammad Al-Aidarous, and a number of officials and parties interested in heritage. It is noteworthy that the Kingdom"s celebration of the World Heritage Day comes within the framework of the interest of the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in the national heritage, within the framework of Vision 2030. — SPA
