Dr. Atallah Zayed Al-Zayed was recently appointed the Saudi ambassador to Comoros. Al-Zayed, along with several newly appointed ambassadors, took oath during a virtual meeting with King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He joined the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1990 and has served in several departments. The top diplomat has represented Saudi Arabia in Kuwait, Iran, Jordan, the US, Egypt and Finland. Al-Zayed worked in various positions, including security management and internal control. He is fluent in three languages: Arabic, English and Persian. He has taken part in numerous conferences and events with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Al-Zayed has also completed a number of courses, including a crisis management program in the UK and a biological weapons course in the Netherlands. He has published many books, including “The Political Relationships between Saudi Arabia and Iran and their Impact on the Arabian Gulf’s Regional Security.” Al-Zayed did a Ph.D. in public administration from the College of Economics and Political Sciences, Cairo University in 2018. He also obtained a master’s degree in public administration from California State University, Northridge in the US between 2008 and 2009. The ambassador also completed another master’s degree in political science from the University of Jordan, Amman in 2004 and received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Kuwait in 1998. Al-Zayed has a strong vision for future political relations, and believes that the economy is the sole driver of politics — where the stronger the economy, the stronger political relations will become. “Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 creates multiple sources of income, unlike in the past when the Kingdom relied on petroleum oil as a single source of income. Therefore, a great developmental rise will occur in all aspects, especially in tourism of our religious places,” he said.
