MANAMA — A policeman of Bahrain’s Coast Guard was killed on Thursday when a boat crashed into a marine patrol vessel in a bid to escape, the Bahrain News Agency reported citing a statement from the Coast Guard. According to the BNA report, the coast guard patrols, as part of their efforts to confront violations, including the current shrimping ban, instructed a boat suspected of catching shrimps to follow orders and stop. However, the boat intentionally changed direction and crashed into the patrol in an attempt to escape, causing the death of a policeman of the Coast Guard and injuring two others who were later transported to the hospital for treatment. Four Asians were arrested onboard at the Shahrakan beach. Investigation revealed various violations related to the boat’s registration and license and the use of runaway workers.
