MALE — Maldives parliamentary speaker and former President Mohamed Nasheed, who was wounded in a terror attack near his residence on Thursday, is in critical condition and in intensive care, his hospital said after a series of surgeries. The private ADK hospital said Nasheed underwent life-saving surgery for injuries to his head, chest, abdomen and limbs. "Over the course of (the) past 16 hours he had life-saving surgery on injuries to his head, chest, abdomen, and limbs. He remains in a critical condition in intensive care," read a tweet from the hospital. Nasheed"s family has also stated that the final surgery carried out on him has been completed successfully. Nasheed"s younger brother Nazim Abdul Sattar tweeted on Friday that the surgery on Nasheed was now complete. "Now it’s the long road to recovery," said Nazim on Twitter before thanking the ADK Hospital and its team attending his brother. A team of multi-specialty doctors is attending to the ex-president after he was targeted by an explosion near his residence last night. Nasheed was taken to the hospital on Thursday night after the attack. Police are investigating the attack as a terror attack. — Agencies
