WASHINGTON, May 13 (Reuters) - President Joe Biden said on Thursday that he was optimistic a deal on infrastructure spending could be reached after meeting with Republican lawmakers on the subject earlier in the day. “We had a very, very good meeting,” Biden told reporters at the White House after talks with Republican Senator Shelley Moore Capito and others. “I am very optimistic that we can reach a ... reasonable agreement. But even if we don’t,” he said, a “good faith” effort had been started. Reporting by Steve Holland and Jeff Mason; Editing by Leslie Adler Our Standards: The Thomson Reuters Trust Principles.
