RIYADH — The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) said that more than 46,000 hearings had been interpreted remotely by the Unified Translation Center since its launch in April 2019. The center enables non-Arabic speakers to follow their cases through interpreters speaking over 18 languages. “The interpreters are familiar with court terminology and have been trained to provide accurate translation for clients,” the ministry said. “The languages most often translated are Ethiopian, Urdu, Bengali, Pashto, Tagalog, and Hindi.” The ministry also noted that the center is equipped with state-of-the-art tech enabling videoconferencing sessions and connections among the center, courts and prisons. In addition, the interpreting service can be requested through the statement of claim service available on the MoJ portal. — SG
