DOHA — The Arab League on Tuesday reaffirmed full backing to Egypt and Sudan in their row with Ethiopia over its Renaissance Dam on the River Nile. In a joint news conference with Qatari Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad Abdurrahman Al Thani following the irregular Arab foreign ministers council meeting in Doha on Tuesday, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmad Abulgheit stressed that Egypt and Sudan"s "water security is inseparable from the Arab water security". He noted that Arab foreign ministers have expressed, in the final statement of their meeting, complete rejection of any measures that put at risk Egypt and Sudan"s rights in the River Nile water.Abulgheit pointed out the Arab ministers agreed on approaching the United Nations Security Council to ask for an urgent session on the Ethiopian dam. On the recent developments in the Palestinian territories, the Arab League chief welcomed all Arab and international initiatives to rebuild Gaza Strip after the recent war. He added that the ministers concurred on doubling efforts to counter the provocative Israeli actions in the occupied Jerusalem. — KUNA
