Who’s Who: Sultan Moraished, chief information security officer at The Red Sea Development Co. and Amaala

Sultan Moraished is the chief information security officer (CISO) at The Red Sea Development Co. (TRSDC) and Amaala, two of the four giga-projects in Saudi Arabia. His primary role is to achieve the organizations’ goals of defending against threats, managing cyber risks, and ultimately supporting the overall business strategies of the pair. Moraished has held the role of CISO at TRSDC since April 2019 and at Amaala since January this year. Prior to joining TRSDC, Moraished held multiple positions in the financial and hospitality sectors. He started his professional career as an IT support engineer at Rosewood Al-Faisaliah Hotel Group, working there from December 2005 to June 2008. He then entered the financial sector where he held multiple positions, starting as an information technology (IT) operations officer before becoming an IT operations security manager at SABB Bank between 2008-16. He later became HSBC Saudi Arabia’s first CISO in April 2016, a position he held until April 2019. In 16 years, Moraished has gained experience in cybersecurity, data privacy and protection, IT, business continuity, strategy, business intelligence, disaster recovery and risk management. Moraished received a bachelor’s degree in computer science and IT from King Saud University, Riyadh. He also gained a master’s degree in computer science from Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University in Riyadh. His academic background includes an INSEAD Leadership Program (the first Saudi Arabian digital leaders’ program). He is also Capital Market Authority 1 certified.
