Saudi Arabia expresses deep sorrow over deadly Iraq hospital fire

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia has expressed its deep sorrow over the deadly fire that broke out at Al-Hussein Teaching Hospital in the city of Nasiriyah in southern Iraq on Monday night. In a statement on Tuesday, the Saudi foreign ministry extended the Kingdom"s support and its full solidarity with Iraq and the Iraqi people during the tragic incident. The ministry expressed the Kingdom"s sincere condolences and deepest sympathy with the families of the victims, as well as Iraqi leadership, government and people, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured. Meanwhile, the death toll from the deadly blaze at the hospital’s coronavirus isolation ward rose to 92 on Tuesday, according to the Iraqi state news agency. Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates also expressed their solidarity with Iraq over the victims of the hospital fire. In a statement, Bahrain’s foreign ministry expressed its utmost condolences to the government and people of Iraq over the victims of the fire incident and wished all the injured a speedy recovery. The foreign ministry of the UAE in a statement on Tuesday expressed its sincere condolences to the government of Iraq and to the families of the victims of the tragic accident, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.
