AMMAN: Six people, including five Saudis, died in a road accident on Wednesday evening in the Jordanian city of Mafraq, 90 kilometers east of the capital Amman. A security source told Arab News that four of the Saudi nationals killed in the accident were brothers, aged 7, 13, 15 and 23. The five Saudis were all travelling in a small car that collided with a truck on the Jaber highway, which leads towards the country’s eastern border with Syria. A spokesperson for Jordan’s Public Security Department (PSD) said it was investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident that left four other people injured, but that the initial investigation suggested the crash was a result of the car’s driver ignoring a stop sign. The spokesperson said that those injured in the crash had been taken to Mafraq Public Hospital, where they were reported to be in stable condition. Social media posts claimed that the four Saudi brothers killed in the crash came from the northern city of Qurayyat on the Kingdom’s border with Jordan.
