Third Saudi plane carrying coronavirus aid arrives in Tunisia

TUNIS — A third Saudi aircraft carrying medical supplies arrived here on Thursday to help Tunisia combat the spread of coronavirus in the country, the Saudi Press Agency reported. The medical was sent by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) in response to the request made by Tunisian President Kais Saied during his call with Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman last week. The aircraft was received by Saudi Arabia"s Ambassador to Tunisia Dr. Abdulaziz bin Ali Al-Sager, Tunisian Minister of Defense Brahim Bartagi, Tunisian Minister of Health Dr. Fawzi Al-Mahdi, and Director of the Tunisian President’s Office, Minister Nadia Okasha.In a press statement, Tunisian Defense Minister Brahim Bertegi praised the medical equipment sent by the Kingdom to support Tunisia"s efforts in confronting the widespread outbreak of COVID-19. The Tunisian defense minister said that Saudi Arabia has sent high-precision equipment with advanced technology, which will raise the readiness of the public hospitals to receive patients. Saudi Arabia was generous in sending a large number of medical and care devices, medication, vaccines and other necessary materials. In the statement, the Tunisian defense minister expressed his thanks to the government and the people of Saudi Arabia. The official spokesperson of the Tunisian health ministry, Nisaf Ben Alaya praised the aid provided by Saudi Arabia to support Tunisia in this critical time and to support the efforts of the health ministry to confront the spread of the virus, adding that the Saudi leadership responded quickly and rapidly intervened with the ongoing health crisis in Tunisia. Ben Alaya said that the medical aid is being sent to public hospitals in various cities of Tunisia.
