RIYADH — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman sent a cable of condolences to Indian President Ram Nath Kovind over deadly landslides that hit the western state of Maharashtra, leaving dozens dead and scores injured. In his cable, King Salman offered his sincere condolences to the president, families of the victims and Indian citizens, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Saturday. Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman sent a similar cable to the Indian president, the SPA added. At least 136 people have died in the western Indian state after torrential monsoon rains caused landslides and flooded low-lying areas, cutting off hundreds of villages. At least 38 people were killed in Taliye, 180 km southeast of the financial capital Mumbai when a landslide flattened most of the small village, state government officials said. The death toll also includes 27 reported deaths from Satara district in the last 48 hours.
