Makkah region accounts for over 25% of cases as KSA records 1,252 new infections

RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health on Monday recorded 1,252 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours. According to the ministry, 12 more people died due to complications caused by the virus. This brings the total number of confirmed infections in the Kingdom to 519,395 and the virus-related fatalities to 8,179. The ministry also said that a total of 1,299 people recovered over the past 24 hours, raising the total number of people free from the deadly virus to 500,426. The Makkah region reported the highest number of new cases with 316, followed by the Riyadh region with 226, the Eastern region with 183 and the Asir region with 122 infections. The remaining cases were detected in other regions of the Kingdom with just two of them reporting less than 10 infections. According to the ministry, there were 10,788 active cases and 1,424 of them were in critical condition.
