Sudan’s foreign minister visits Bahrain to boost bilateral ties

MANAMA — Sudan’s Foreign Minister Maryam Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi paid an official visit to Bahrain on Monday, seeking to boost relations with the Gulf country. During her visit, she met on Monday with Bahrain’s King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa at Al Sakhir Palace, the Bahrain News Agency reported. During the meeting, King Hamad highlighted strong, historic and steadily-growing relations between Bahrain and Sudan across all fields. Bahrain’s king also hailed the official opening of the Sudanese embassy, which reflects outstanding and deep-rooted relations and steadily-growing cooperation towards serving common goals and interests. He reiterated Bahrain’s support to Sudan’s efforts to bolster peace, stability and development, in addition to supporting Arab issues and interests. King Hamad commended the efforts of the Sudanese expatriate community and their contribution to Bahrain’s development. The Sudanese foreign minister expressed deepest thanks to the king for the warm welcome and good hospitality, hailing royal efforts to enhance Bahraini-Sudanese relations. She reiterated her country’s appreciation of Bahrain, led by King Hamad, as well as Bahrain’s role in supporting pan-Arab action. Earlier in the day, the Sudanese foreign minister met with her Bahraini counterpart Abdullatif Al-Zayani. During the meeting, Al Zayani hailed deep-rooted bilateral relations, affirming Bahrain’s keenness to develop and enhance relations at all levels. He praised the relentless efforts of the Sudanese community its contributions to the development process in Bahrain. Maryam Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi expressed her delight at visiting Bahrain, hailing strong bilateral relations. She further expressed the Sudanese government"s thanks for Bahrain’s stance in support of Sudan and Egypt regarding the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam crisis, wishing the Kingdom continued progress and prosperity. The two sides discussed ways of enhancing joint cooperation between Bahrain and Sudan at all levels, stressing the need to continue developing joint cooperation between the two countries in various fields. The two sides also reviewed issues and challenges in the Arab world and a number of issues of common interest.
