Egypt, Jordan Stress Coordination in Tackling Regional Crises

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi held talks on Monday with Jordanian deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on the latest developments in the region, including the situation in Lebanon, Syria, Libya. Sisi conveyed his greetings to King Abdullah, hoping to boost Egyptian-Jordanian ties, particularly at trade and economic levels, in a way that serves both countries interests. He further stressed the importance of bolstering economic relations, increasing trade, and cooperating to confront the challenges resulting from the coronavirus pandemic. Sisi and Safadi praised the tripartite cooperation among Egypt, Jordan and Iraq, stressing the need to build on the outcomes of the summit held in Baghdad in June and to take tangible measures to increase cooperation, especially in the energy sector and the industrial complexes. They also exchanged views on the peace process in the Middle East. Safadi stressed the importance of the intense Egyptian efforts to maintain the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, lauding its reconstruction initiative in the Palestinian enclave.
