Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Nayef Al-Hajraf underlined the importance of enhancing the Gulf media identity to cope with the rapid development of the global media during his meeting with the Director-General of the GCC Joint Program Production Institution, Shafiq Ahmad Al-Sayed Omar. In a press statement carried by the Kuwaiti News Agency on Tuesday, the General Secretariat of the GCC said that Al-Hajraf praised the important media role played by the Joint Program Production Institution and its achievements in the field of TV and radio production. He stressed the importance of the continuous work of the program and its interaction with Gulf citizens in accordance with the directives of their Majesties and Highnesses, the leaders of the GCC countries. During the meeting, both sides discussed the desired media developments and the association"s efforts aiming for supporting and enriching the gulf media plans in order to achieve the objectives of the joint Gulf action. The Joint Program Production Institution was established in January 1976 with the agreement of the information ministries of the GCC countries, in order to strengthen and consolidate the civilizational, cultural and historical ties.
