The Ministry of Education has outlined the rules and regulations for students to return to school in person, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday. The ministry stressed the importance of receiving two doses of the vaccine to return to in-person education, commending all people"s cooperation and concern for the safety of students and their families. Regarding university education, Technical and Vocational Training Corporation (TVTC), and public education for 12 years and older students, the ministry explained that staff and students must receive two doses of COVID-19 vaccine to enter educational facilities. The Ministry of Health (MoH) shall provide vaccines to all those who have not taken it through a website allocated for this purpose and this should be completed before Sunday, Aug.22. The Ministry of Health will automatically book vaccination appointments for male and female students 12 years and older and have not yet taken the vaccine. Regarding public education for students under 12 years old, the ministry of education said that all educational staff must receive two doses of the vaccine. The in-person education will start when 70% of the Kingdom"s population receives two doses of the vaccine, or by Oct. 10, 2021, whichever occurs sooner. That will be the date of the return to in-person education for this category. The Public Health Authority (SaudiCDC) will inform the Ministry of Education, universities and TVTC about necessary preventive measures and health protocols that should be implemented for the in-person education. The Ministry of Education will follow up with stakeholders to speed up the implementation of the directives.
