CAIRO — The Arab League on Saturday warned against ongoing attacks by the occupation Israeli authorities on Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque. The league affirmed in a statement, on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of burning the mosque, full solidarity with the Palestinian people, particularly with respect of their steadfastness in Jerusalem in the face of systematic practices by the occupation authorities. It called on the international community to shoulder its responsibility toward the occupied city, secure protection for the Palestinian people and coerce Israel to halt "its crimes and offensives and all measures intended to alter the legal and historic status of Jerusalem." Meanwhile, more than 20 Palestinians were injured, two of them critically, on Saturday when Israeli soldiers fired bullets to disperse protestors along the Gaza Strip"s eastern border, health authorities said. "Some 24 Palestinians sustained various injuries as they took part in a protest to mark the 52nd anniversary of the arson committed on Al-Aqsa mosque," said Gaza Health Ministry spokesman Asfraf Al-Qadra. — KUNA
