Fatal end to ambulance driver after driving 400 km to save a patient

An ambulance driver, after a heroic effort of saving a patient’s life, lost his in a fatal accident here. The news of the driver Muhammad Al-Subaie’s death left the people of Taif and Rania all the more shocked as he was returning home after driving a patient over 400 kms toward a hospital. The fatal end of the ambulance driver came in a road accident as Al-Subaie died in the grisly mishap that occurred on Al-Khurma-Rania Road in which five others sustained injuries. Those injured in the head-on collision, between the ambulance and a car, included a doctor and nurse who traveled in the ambulance and three passengers of the car. Siraj Al-Humaidan, spokesman of Taif Health Department, said that all the injured are in a stable condition, and the doctor and nurse have left the hospital after being reassured of their health condition. The rest of the injured are undergoing treatment. He said senior health officials, including the Director of Al-Khurma General Hospital Muhammad Al-Subaie and Director of Rania General Hospital Rajeh Al-Subaie followed up on the case immediately after the accident and made all the efforts to provide emergency medical aid to those injured. Al-Subaie met his tragic end after performing a humanitarian mission of saving the life of a patient. He drove a distance of 400 km to transfer the patient, who was in serious condition from Rania General Hospital to King Faisal Medical Complex in Taif, and the patient was brought safely to the complex. The ambulance was involved in the horrific accident on its return travel to Rania from Taif.
