An Afghan security force member was killed and three others received injuries on Monday in a firefight between unknown gunmen and Afghan forces at the gate of Kabul airport. A firefight broke out between Afghan security forces and unknown assailants at the North Gate of Kabul airport on Monday, the German Bundeswehr said on Twitter. One Afghan security force member was killed and three others were injured in the battle, which also involved US and German forces, the Bundeswehr said. All Bundeswehr soldiers remained uninjured, it said. According to local Afghan media Pajhwok news, the firefight occurred between Afghan security forces and unknown assailants at the northern gate of the airport at a time when thousands of people were trying to flee from the country after Taliban took over Kabul city. The German military confirming the casualties through Twitter said that all German soldiers remained uninjured. The Kabul airport has been a scene of chaos since the Taliban took over the Afghan capital on Aug. 15. The firefight came a day after the UK military confirmed that at least seven people were killed outside Kabul airport in an attempt by hundreds of Afghans to leave the country. There were reports of stampede and crushing injuries while Taliban outside the Kabul airport fired into the air to clear the crowd. Earlier, the United States on Saturday had advised Americans in Afghanistan to avoid traveling to Kabul airport due to "potential security threats." — Agencies
