The Ministry of Health stated that 99 percent of students in various phases of public education in the age group between 12 and 18 years have received the first dose of vaccine against coronavirus and are waiting for the second dose shortly. The ministry’s statement came a few days before the start of the new academic year, which is slated for Aug. 29. Offline classes will be started for students in the intermediate and secondary school classes as well as for students of universities and technical institutions after a gap of more than one and a half years. The ministry emphasized that only those students who have taken two doses of vaccine will be allowed to attend the classes. The Ministry of Education has made elaborate preparations and arrangements, including strict coronavirus precautionary measures and preventive protocols to ensure a “safe return” to the classroom. There has been sufficient coordination between the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health to automatically book students’ vaccination appointments to prevent any delay in administering doses, with the aim of not disrupting classes for any students from Sunday.
