The Camel Club and Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture are scheduled to organize an international conference on the economies of camels on the sidelines of the sixth edition of the King Abdulaziz Camel Festival slated for next December. The conference will be held with the aim of benefiting from various camel products and utilizing them in stimulating investments. The conference will review international expertise and practices on how to utilize products and ways of manufacturing. This is in addition to sustaining local practices in nutrition according to modern ways for the economic and social development, supporting evidence for scientific and educational dimensions of the camel traditions, maintaining biological diversity and adapting to the climate change and alleviating its impacts. The conference will work on achieving outcomes that lead to providing a comprehensive system in terms of industries and supplies related to camels and developing community revenues through raising two million heads of camels and their production, which represent 7% of the livestock wealth of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia enjoyed self-sufficiency of camel meat of 80% between 2014 and 2020, where the annual production is estimated at around 16% of the total production of red meat with a compound annual growth rate of 1.5% that contributes to enhancing food security and realizing sustainable development under the Saudi Vision 2030. — SPA
