Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita stressed that holding elections on time in Libya, as agreed upon by Libyan parties and the international community, is essential to restoring stability to the country. Bourita received in Rabat on Thursday speaker of the east-based Libyan parliament, Aguila Saleh. The FM noted that Libya is going through a critical period, stressing that the crisis will be resolved through the democratic path and elections, not international conferences and foreign meddling. The Libyans are tired of the stalemate and division, he stated. Bourita called on all Libyan institutions to engage and assume their responsibilities in preparing for the elections as scheduled in December. For his part, Saleh stressed that the Libyan crisis can only be resolved through parliamentary and presidential elections. He further highlighted the importance of the support of the international community and Arab countries in holding the elections on time. Morocco has hosted five rounds of dialogue among the disputed Libyan parties. Last week, Bourita revealed that the coming will witness a forum that would bring together businessmen from Morocco and Libya.
