— Minister of Sports Prince Abdulaziz Bin Turki Al-Faisal, who is also the president of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee (SAOC), welcomed in his office in Riyadh on Monday the Saudi athletics champion Abdulrahman Al-Qurashi. Al-Qurashi won the bronze medal in the men’s 100-meter T53 competition at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. Prince Abdulaziz handed Al-Qurashi the bronze medal award, which amounts to one million riyal. The minister expressed his pride in the honorable and distinguished levels that Al-Qurashi achieved during the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. He stressed his direct and great support for Al-Qurashi and the rest of his colleagues in the Kingdom. Last Wednesday, Abdulrahman Al-Qurashi won the bronze medal in the men’s 100-meter T53 competition at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. The 23-year-old Saudi champion came third with a time of 14.76 seconds, behind gold medalist Pongsakorn Paeyo of Thailand. Paeyo posted a Paralympic record of 14.20 seconds beating Brent Lakatos of Canada, with a time of 14.55 seconds, to the silver medal. Al-Qurashi’s medal is Saudi Arabia’s first of the tournament. The country’s other participant in the final Fahad Al-Junaidel came seventh with time of 15.48 seconds.
