Illegal border crossings foiled in Saudi Arabia’s Jazan region

People who facilitate illegal entry into Saudi Arabia, or provide border violators with shelter or any form of assistance or service, are subject to penalties of up to 15 years RIYADH: Saudi Mujahideen patrols in the Fayfa province of Jazan thwarted four attempts to transport 31 individuals who had violated border security, spokesman for the General Administration of the Mujahideen Abdul Majeed Al-Kanaan has said. Four vehicles were seized and the drivers were arrested, two of whom were Saudi citizens. One was a Saudi resident and another was a Yemeni national in violation of the residency system. Initial legal measures were taken against the drivers, and they were referred to the competent authorities, Al-Kanaan said. People who facilitate illegal entry into the Kingdom, or provide border violators with shelter or any form of assistance or service, are subject to penalties of up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to SR1 million ($266,700), Al-Kanaan said. Vehicles used for transportation and houses used for shelter will also be seized, he added. Al-Kanaan urged members of the public to report any violation by calling 911 in Makkah and Riyadh, and 999 and 996 in all Saudi regions.
