The Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) announced on Monday that registration for the second edition of the International AI Artathon 2021 is now open. Registration is available through the event"s website and will be closed on Sept.26, 2021. Among the important initiatives of the Global AI Summit, the event aims to attract those interested in AI music, AI interactive art, AI wall art, AI Volumetric art, and data and AI experts to compete and create the best artworks using AI technologies according to specified tracks. The event will be held between Sept.28 and Oct.1, 2021, and divided into four AI-based tracks: AI Interactive Art Track, AI Canvas Art Track, AI Volumetric Track, the AI Music Track. Following the event, 20 teams will be selected to enroll in a Riyadh-based eight-week training camp, starting Oct3, 2021, which will include several workshops and training sessions to develop their skills. The training camp will also allow the teams to finalize their artworks. The best 15 artworks will be presented in an art exhibition during the Global AI Summit. The top three artworks will win cash prizes of up to SR500,000. Dr. Abdullah bin Sharf Alghamdi, President of SDAIA, said that: "The remarkable success of the first edition of the AI Artathon and the innovative AI-based artworks it helped create prompted us to launch a second edition and add various tracks to increase participation and enable creators to showcase their artistic abilities in making artworks using AI technologies." He pointed out that SDAIA"s initiatives and programs, including the AI Artathon, enjoy the support and attention of the Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman, Chairman of SDAIA"s Board of Directors, showcasing His keenness to support innovators and develop their creative skills and enrich their knowledge in the field of AI technologies. He thanked the Ministry of Culture, the Saudi Federation for Cyber Security, Programming & Drones, and Misk Art, the valuable partners in the success of the AI Artathon, for their generous support. The first edition of the AI Artathon had received wide attention and attracted global participation from 52 countries; 300 AI and data scientists, experts, and artists competed to create the best visual artworks using AI technologies.
