DUBAI: Saudi Arabia held an opening ceremony for its pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai on Friday to welcome visitors to the site’s second-largest pavilion building. The ceremony attracted a crowd of visitors that viewed the launch and then explored the 13,059 square-meter structure. Mohammed bin Mazyad Al-Tuwaijri, vice chairman of the supervisory committee for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Pavilion at Expo 2020, inaugurated the pavilion in the presence of a gulf delegation. Saudi Ambassador to the UAE Turki bin Abdullah Al-Dakhil welcomed the delegation and visitors to the pavilion on the first day of what he described as a “historical” event. “Your excellencies, I would like to welcome you all on this historical day and in this sisterly country that is dear to our hearts,” he said in a speech. Al-Dakhil said the Kingdom was happy to see visitors explore the country’s rich heritage, diversity, and history. “The pavilion will offer its visitors rich content that reflects what the Kingdom enjoys from diversity and originality,” he said. The Saudi ambassador said the pavilion’s large space and rich content represent the meanings of human growth and the creation of the future. The ceremony ended with fireworks to celebrate the opening of the pavilion to the public. Before the opening ceremony, a Gulf Cooperation Council tour took place at the expo site. The tour started with the Bahrain pavilion, followed by Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, Oman, and Saudi Arabia.
