JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia’s National Agricultural Development Co. on Monday announced the completion of construction work on the second phase of a solar energy project with the operation capacity of 30 MW, according to the company’s filing. The Saudi-based company said that they are preparing to launch their commercial operations soon. In July 2019, the company concluded a solar energy purchase agreement with the French energy company, Engie, for 25 years, and implemented the project in Haradh with a capacity of 30 MW by merging it with used energy sources, according to Argaam.com. The Haradh park was supposed to go online in October 2020 but its commissioning was delayed amid the pandemic. The solar farm is integrated with NADEC’s other energy generation resources. The company said that the solar power addition will help it reduce its fuel consumption by 16 million liters (4.22 million gallons), cut energy costs by SR4.1 million or 4 percent, and lower carbon emissions by 53 million kg per year.
