SFDA begins supply of Pfizer vaccine to immunize 5-11 age group

The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) announced that it had started to supply Pfizer vaccine to immunize 5-11 age group, the Ministry of Health official spokesman Dr. Muhammad Al-Abdel Ali confirmed. The Health Ministry spokesman, at the press conference here on Sunday, stressed that the Pfizer vaccine will be given to children soon, as the SFDA recently announced its approval to vaccinate children between 5-11 years with coronavirus vaccines, confirming its safety and efficacy. Coronavirus infections around the world have exceeded over a quarter-billion, and the number of deaths has exceeded 5.06 million, he said. The spokesman added that the Kingdom"s statistics are stable as new COVID-19 cases in Saudi Arabia stayed below the 50-mark for the ninth straight day on Sunday, with 40 new infections recorded over the past 24 hours. He added that Saudi Arabia has administered more than 39 million doses of the vaccines till date since the start of vaccination. On his side, the executive head of the Saudi Sports Media Federation Dr. Raja Allah Al-Sulami said that the return and easing of precautionary measures for all sports sectors such as matches, fans and various activities is limited only to immunized people. Dr. Al-Sulami reiterated that children are allowed to enter the football stadiums, provided that kids are accompanied by people who are fully immunized with the doses of coronavirus vaccines approved in the Kingdom.
