NEW YORK (Reuters) - Speculators’ net bearish bets on U.S. 5-year Treasury note futures rose to their largest since November 2020, according to Commodity Futures Trading Commission data released on Monday. Futures on U.S. five-year notes, which have come to reflect rate hike expectations, showed net shorts of 407,485 contracts based on CFTC data in the week ended Nov. 9. Meanwhile, U.S. 10-year Treasury note futures fell in the latest week. The amount of speculators’ bearish, or short, positions in 10-year Treasury futures exceeded bullish, or long, positions by 267,332 contracts last week. A week earlier, speculators held 268,669 net short positions in 10-year T-note futures, the most since February 2020.
