— King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture (Ithraa) Saturday announced the winning artwork of the 4th edition of the Ithra Art Prize, titled “E Pluribus Unum — A Modern Fossil”, at the inaugural Diriyah Contemporary Art Biennale. Tunisian-Ukrainian artist Nadia Kaabi-Linke won the $100,000 Ithra Art Prize, for her artwork that sheds light on one of the impacts of the coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic cast a shadow on commercial flights around the world, and caused a decline in commercial air traffic, and highlights questions about how the humanity progress and economic growth are measured. This monumental work of 19 panels depicting a set of cracks on a banner bearing an arrow, a symbol associated with aviation and economic growth, stimulates a rethinking of priorities. — SPA
