Yemen"s Information Minister Moammar Al-Eryani announced on Thursday that a military commander of Lebanon"s Hezbollah was killed in the ongoing fighting over the province of Marib. Al-Eryani said in a brief press statement posted on Twitter that "Hezbollah"s military commander and expert Akram Al-Sayyed was killed in an artillery shelling launched by the government forces in Marib province." He considered the incident of killing Al-Sayyed as "a painful blow" to Tehran, indicating that "Hezbollah leads the Houthi military operations against Marib as part of its expansion project in the region." He clarified that "Al-Sayyed, 35, had entered Yemen in August 2017," and on Dec. 3, "he was sent with a number of Hezbollah experts to the fronts of southern Marib to lead operations." "Al-Sayyed was killed alongside the Houthi militia commander Abu Ashraf al-Asadi and eight other militia members, and his body was transferred to Saada province," he added. The Iran-backed Houthi militia recently intensified its military operations against Marib. — Agencies
