ICAD beat ARM United in an exciting high scoring final encounter to lift the 4th MIM Cup. The event played in honor of JCA late CEO Muhammed Iqbal Choudhary, was organized by Jeddah Cricket Association under auspices of Saudi Arabian Cricket Federation. Batting first on winning the toss, ARM were off to a bad start as their prolific scorers Ali Shan (9) and Arsalan (5) were dismissed cheaply and reduced to 24 for 2 In 4 overs. Thereafter skipper Nazeer and Owais went on to repair the damage and put on 71 runs partnership for the 3rd wicket before Nazeer was dismissed for 47 of 25 balls (5 fours 1 six). Owaiz continued along with Zeeshan (12) and the two added 55 runs for the 4th wicket before Zeeshan was bowled by Mohsin. Owais was soon dismissed, unfortunately run out for a superb 73 runs of 44 balls with 8 fours and a six. Atta hit a quick-fire 23 (13b 2 fours 1 six) before being run out in the last over, Shakir remained unbeaten on 13 (5b). For ICAD Farooq took 2 for 26 and a wicket each for Hassan and Mohsin as ARM ended on 189 for 6 in 20 overs which appeared to be a fighting total in a final. In reply ICAD too lost Mohsin (4) cheaply, but Shakeel was joined by Jawad, both batted sensibly to put on 57 runs partnership for the 2nd wicket before Shakeel was dismissed for 42 (28b 6 fours 1 six). Thereafter it was ICAD all the way as Jawad and Ateeq paced the innings slowly and steadily till the 12th over with the score at 110 for 2 wickets before launching their fusillade, next 2 overs slammed for 19 and 18 runs respectively to take them to 147 for 2 in 14 overs, putting on match winning partnership of 104 runs before Shakeel was dismissed for 66 (40b 5 fours 2 sixes). Ateeq toyed with the bowling for an unbeaten 57 of 31b 3 fours 3 sixes — two of these of the first 2 balls of the 19th over to reach the target of 195 for 3 and seal an emphatic win for ICAD and enable them lift the 4th MIM Cup. After the match prize distribution ceremony was held where A. A. Merchant welcomed the gathering and paid tributes to JCA’s late CEO Marhoom Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, the heart and soul of JCA, whose commitment and perseverance for the cause of cricket as he worked relentlessly to bring JCA since its inception in 2006-07 to where it stands today. He hoped JCA clubs will support him to work with the same zeal & dedication to ensure that late CEO’s memory is carried on with his work year after year. He thanked executive committee members, logistics team, umpires for the successful conduct of this knock-out event.
