Saudi aid agency continues food aid work in Jordan, Yemen

AMMAN: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center is continuing to distribute winter kits in Jordan, the Saudi Press Agency reported, with the project in its second phase. KSrelief, in cooperation with the Jordanian Hashemite Charitable Organization, recently distributed 4,886 blankets and 2,443 winter kits to needy Jordanian families and Syrian and Palestinian refugees in a number of governorates, helping 12,215 people. The aid comes within the framework of projects being implemented by Saudi Arabia to alleviate the suffering and improve the livelihoods of refugees and families in Jordan. The center also distributed 107 tons of food baskets to displaced and needy families in Yemen’s Jouf governorate, benefiting 6,000 families. One food basket weighs about 107 kg and contains seven essential food items that meet nutritional needs. The center aims to distribute more than 192,000 food baskets weighing more than 20,000 tons to families in need in 15 Yemeni governorates. KSrelief has implemented 1,814 projects worth more than $5.5 billion in 77 countries. The initiatives were carried out in cooperation with 144 local, regional and international partners since the inception of the center in May 2015. According to a recent KSrelief report, the countries and territories that benefited the most from the center’s various projects were Yemen ($3.9 billion), Palestine ($368 million), Syria ($322 million) and Somalia ($209 million).
