Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz Bin Salman reiterated that there won’t be any compromise on energy security for the propaganda purposes. “We should not forfeit energy security for the sake of a publicity stunt,” he said while addressing a session on the second-day of the Future Minerals Forum here on Wednesday. Prince Abdulaziz said that the world needed more flexibility as the transition to clean energy is complicated and the transition needs to be a well-thought of transition. “The transition to alternative energy sources must be a deliberate shift. The other option is that the world has to move from worries related to concerns about traditional sources to other concerns related to the extent of availability of alternative energy sources in terms of minerals whose concentrations and ownership are limited to specific areas of the world,” he said. The minister highlighted the keenness of Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman on local content. “The Kingdom has great opportunity to exploit it in the energy field as it has ambitions in the energy sector to reach 75 percent of localization by 2030. “We have energy, but what is more valuable than it is the energy of the ambitious young men and women who make up a major component of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030,” he said while noting that the young Saudi men and women are betting on their capabilities and challenging themselves as the Kingdom’s Vision serves them well. Prince Abdulaziz emphasized that the energy transition must be governed by three pivotal elements of ensuring energy security, economic development and prosperity to help people, in addition to climate change. “The concept of a circular carbon economy enables us to continue producing and exporting hydrocarbons and benefiting from them financially, in addition to the manufacturing of materials derived from it, with due care taken for its optimal use, and the mitigation of any environmental impacts resulting from its emissions,” he added.
