Houthi unlawful targeting of UAE will be held accountable: Sheikh Abdullah

UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan affirmed that the UAE condemns the Houthi militia"s targeting of civilian areas and facilities on UAE soil Monday, reiterating that those responsible for this unlawful targeting of the country will be held accountable. According to WAM, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation stated that the UAE reserves the right to respond to these terrorist attacks and criminal escalation, describing them as crimes committed in flagrant violation of international law. The UAE ministry said that the terrorist militia has carried out a cowardly act to spread terrorism and chaos in the region in order to achieve its illegal aims and objectives. It called on the international community to strongly condemn and denounce these terrorist acts that target civilians and civilian facilities. Also the Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf condemned the cowardly terrorist attack that targeted Abu Dhabi International Airport in UAE Monday, resulting in deaths and injuries. Al-Hajraf stressed that the attack launched by the Houthi militia is a coward attack and war crime that jeopardized the lives of civilians, which requires holding the terrorist accountable in line with the international and humanitarian laws. He also voiced GCC solidarity with the UAE and supporting it in whatever procedures it takes to defend its territories and preserve the security and safety of its citizens and residents, expressing condolences to the families of the victims and the UAE government and people, wishing the injured a speedy recovery. In Cairo, the Arab Parliament strongly condemned the terrorist Houthi militia’s launch of several booby-trapped drones from Sana’a Airport towards Abu Dhabi, UAE, killing three civilians and injuring others, exploding three oil tankers and igniting a fire in the new construction area near Abu Dhabi International Airport. In a statement issued Monday, the Arab Parliament reiterated that the attack represents a cowardly terrorist aggression, a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and all international laws, and a blatant attack on the sovereignty of the UAE. The hostile attack also demonstrates the insistence of the terrorist Houthi militias to continue their cowardly criminal behavior, said the statement. The Arab Parliament stressed its support for the UAE and all measures it will take to confront these cowardly sabotage acts, calling on the international community to take firm steps against these militias whose criminal acts confirm that they are a terrorist organization that poses a serious threat to the security and stability of the region. In Jeddah, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned in the strongest terms the terrorist attack that targeted Abu Dhabi Airport, resulting in deaths and injuries of innocent people. In a statement, OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha denounced the Houthi militia"s persistence to target civilian facilities in a flagrant violation of international laws and norms. He expressed strong condemnation of this heinous operation, affirming the OIC support for any measures the United Arab Emirates might take to protect its lands and security. Meanwhile, the State of Qatar expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the attack that targeted Abu Dhabi International Airport in the United Arab Emirates, resulting in deaths and injuries. In a statement issued Monday, the Qatari Foreign Ministry asserted that targeting civilian and vital facilities represents a terrorist act that violates all international norms and laws. It reiterated Qatar"s firm stance rejecting violence and terrorist acts that target civilians and civilian facilities. In Muscat, the Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs too expressed the Sultanate of Oman"s solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and its support for any measures the UAE might take to maintain its security and stability. In a statement, the Omani ministry expressed denunciation and condemnation of the attack that targeted Abu Dhabi, resulting in the death and injury of a number of civilians, and affirming Oman"s firm stance rejecting violence. Kuwait too strongly condemned and denounced Monday"s cowardly terrorist aggression targeting civilian areas in the UAE with drones launched by the Houthi militias, which led to the killing and wounding of innocent people. The Kuwaiti Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a press statement, said the Houthi militia"s continuing targeting of civilians and civilian areas, their insistence on violating international humanitarian law, and their intentional sabotage of the security and stability of the countries in the region, is an indication of the gravity of the behavior of these militias that obliges the international community, especially the UN Security Council, to put an end to this aggressive behavior and maintain international security and peace. Kuwait also expressed solidarity with the UAE and its support for all the steps it takes to maintain its security and stability. In Amman, the Jordanian government condemned in the strongest words the Houthi militia’s today"s launch of booby-trapped drones towards the UAE capital of Abu Dhabi, causing an explosion and a fire, killing three civilians and wounding others. The official spokesman for Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Haitham Abu Al-Ful, reiterated Jordan"s strong condemnation and denunciation of this cowardly terrorist attack, expressing his country"s absolute solidarity with the UAE and support of all measures it takes to protect its citizens and residents. He also extended his country"s deepest condolence to the families of the victims, wishing the injured a speedy recovery. — SPA
