According to reports, Prince Harry’s new book will contain new revelations about his relationship with his stepmother Camilla, reported The Metro. The memoir – which will be out at some point this year – could “shake the monarchy to the core,” a friend of the prince told the Mirror. Harry has not publicly reacted to the news – announced last week – that Camilla will become Queen Consort when Prince Charles is king. He remained tight-lipped as the country marked the Queen’s 70 years on the throne last weekend and made no mention of the latest developments in his only recent appearance, a virtual chat with ex-rugby star Gareth Thomas to mark HIV Testing Week. This ‘speaks volumes’ and shows how Harry and Camilla still aren’t close, the source told the paper. “Although tensions have eased between the two of them over the years, it was more for a show of unity than a close relationship,” the friend added. “There were big problems at the start but as Harry and his brother William aged and matured, things got better, and they can now co-exist as adults. They were never close with her and they still aren’t,” the source noted. The Queen’s confirmation that she would like Camilla to be handed the title was seen as a sign that the royals have finally accepted Charles’ second wife into the family. The couple married in 2005 but had long been romantically linked beforehand and Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, famously said there were ‘three people’ in her marriage. Harry has previously said he and William ‘loved her to bits’ and that she makes their father ‘very, very happy’. The Duke of Sussex’s book is expected to touch on his childhood, time in the military and marriage to wife Meghan. But it will be his descriptions of his relationship with family members that is likely to draw the most attention.
