Financial positions of banks in the Egyptian market hits $568bn in November 2021

RIYADH: The financial positions of banks in the Egyptian market recorded 8.945 trillion Egyptian pounds ($568 billion) in November 2021, Daily News Egypt reported, citing the Central Bank of Egypt, or CBE. This figure represents an increase of about 1.006 trillion Egyptian pounds when compared to July 2021. According to CBE, customer deposits in banks reached 6.306 trillion Egyptian pounds in November, up from 6.191 trillion Egyptian pounds in October. This reflects a surge of around 115 billion Egyptian pounds. In addition, the volume of credit facilities granted by banks in the local market to customers amounted to 3.066 trillion Egyptian pounds in November. This reflects an increase of 162 billion Egyptian pounds as opposed to July. 60.2 percent of the credit facilities granted to non-governmental entities were channeled to the private sector.
