OIC chief meets Mauritanian, Chinese ministers

ISLAMABAD: Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Hissein Brahim Taha met Mauritanian Foreign Minister Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad on Wednesday. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 48th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC. During the meeting, the two parties discussed ways to enhance cooperation between Mauritania and the OIC in various fields. Taha also held talks with Chinese Foreign Minister and State Councilor Wang Yi. The two sides valued the long-standing and deep-rooted historical relations between China and the Muslim world. They reviewed the full range of relations between the OIC and China and future prospects, discussing ways to promote bilateral dialogue and cooperation in political, economic, cultural, educational, health and intercivilizational issues. The two parties also exchanged views on regional and international matters of mutual concern. The theme of the OIC session was “Building Partnerships for Unity, Justice, and Development.” The session was attended by 600 delegates from 56 OIC member states.
