Most of our behaviors are formed in familiar comfort zones, such as the places we have been raised throughout our lifetime. As a result of which, we tend to tread carefully in our day to day lives to avoid any harm to our well-being by being mindful of our surroundings. The same approach is required to protect our digital assets, since the digital realm is full of countless opportunities that, if not used responsibly, have the potential to damage the quality of our lives. And the basics of achieving the road to potential prospects are entrenched in how we secure ourselves in the environment we live and work in. Businesses across industries have embraced a hybrid work model and are grappling with the various issues of maintaining seamless and secure operations. Their employees are now scattered around the nation, making them more vulnerable to cyber-attacks. With an increased number of access points for cybercriminals to target, enterprises are required to constantly monitor every user and device that is using their network. And malicious actors are constantly on the lookout to seize every opportunity to enter and exploit even the slightest vulnerability in a connection, particularly when employees try to access a company"s network from insecure public Wi-Fi networks. This raises the question of what businesses may do to empower their employees in securing their digital ecosystem. While working from home may appear to provide a safe connection, most individuals lack the necessary resources to safeguard their digital strides. If the digital environments of employees are not well-protected at the locations from which they work, the threats of network intrusion will continue to rise and will overwhelm the security teams with alerts. As highlighted in the Trend Micro Annual Cybersecurity Report for 2021, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Trend Micro solutions detected and blocked over 63 million (63,206,780) email threats, more than 6 million (6,484,710) malware attacks, and over 17 million (17,522,982) URL victim attacks. Furthermore, Smart Home Network (SHN) solutions protected devices and networks from 360,862 SHN inbound and outbound attacks and prevented over 6.8 million SHN events. Whether people are learning or working from home, they need tools that can increase their productivity in the safest way possible. They must feel safe online no matter how they connect or where they connect from. Multi-layered security solutions like the XDR offer complete device and identity protection across endpoints, servers, emails, workloads etc. Additionally, mobile and internet security solutions are also important, with the increase of handheld devices to access information. Equally essential is home network security, which can keep home Wi-Fi routers safe by scanning all traffic passing in and out of the network, enabling it to prevent intrusions, block cybercriminals from hacking, and protect every member of the household from cyber-attacks. With remote access in mind, organizations must further strengthen their security stance by scrutinizing every user and device connecting to the company’s network, which is enabled by the Zero Trust Architecture. This method entails that we must assume that any device trying to connect to a network is not to be trusted, be it an internal user or an external. Each device or application is to be treated as a stranger greeting you for the first time, and only allowed access when it is verified. And the process will begin anew each time a connection is made. This approach will help reduce network intrusion attacks. Today organizations are experiencing a rapid shift into a new digital era that demands robust solutions to safeguard each digital journey. Therefore, they must invest more in comprehensive cybersecurity solutions that can protect the ambitions of their employees who are determined to achieve new milestones in the digital age from the confines of their homes.
