The Saudi Grain Organization Corporation (SAGO) issued a tender to import 355,000 tons of wheat between September and November of 2022, it announced in a statement. SAGO Governor Ahmad al-Fares said the tender is part of the corporation’s plan to maintain the strategic stocks of wheat and meet the demand from the milling companies. He added that the specified quantity will arrive in six shipments: three to Yanbu Commercial Port and one to each of the King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam, the Jeddah Islamic Port and Jazan Port. Saudi ports will continue to receive the previously contracted shipments until the end of August 2022, as SAGO has purchased about two million tons scheduled to arrive during the period between January and August 2022, Fares added. He pointed out that SAGO has already started to receive local wheat from farmers for the 2022 season.
