The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on Sunday threw its weight behind efforts to offload an oil tanker stranded in a Yemeni terminal for six years, which risks spilling a million barrels of crude off the war-torn nation"s coast. The GCC backs all measures taken to alleviate the misery of the Yemeni people, including dealing with the Safer in a timely manner, its General Secretary Dr. Nayef Al-Hajraf said amid talks with the UN"s Resident Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen David Gressly and US Special Envoy for Yemen Tim Lenderking. With a UN-brokered truce in Yemen still intact, the GCC chief said it was imperative to address the deteriorating humanitarian conditions in the war-torn nation. — Kuna
