RIYADH: Saudi stocks opened higher this week, as investors maintained a watchful eye on oil price fluctuations and the possibility of a recession. The main index,TASI, advanced 0.27 percent to hit 13,350 points, while the parallel market, Nomu, gained 0.18 percent to 24,339, at 10:09 a.m. Saudi time. Oil prices settled higher on Friday, with Brent crude closing at $102.78 a barrel and US West Texas Intermediate at $98.26 a barrel. Real estate investment firm Taiba Investments Co. led the gainers on Sunday with a 4.35 percent gain. Following its 4 percent profit decrease in the first quarter of 2022, Advance Petrochemical Co. was down 0.95 percent, leading the fallers. The banking sector saw gains of 2.36 percent for Aljazira Bank, and 0.24 percent for Alinma Bank. Dairy giant Almarai Co. edged up 1.15 percent, after reporting a 9 percent increase in profit for the first quarter of 2022. Fawaz Abdulaziz Alhokair Co. rose 0.29 percent, as Mohamad Mourad was tapped as CEO after Marwan Moukarzel resigned. Almasane Alkobra Mining Co., known as Amak, saw its shares rise by 2.69 percent.
