US President Joe Biden on Thursday announced $800 million in additional security and economic aid to Ukraine to support it in face of the war. The US president made the remark during a meeting with Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal. "Today, I"m announcing USD 800 million to further augment Ukraine"s ability to fight in the east, in the Donbas region. The new package would include heavy artillery and drones, along with ammunition," Biden said. Russia has refocused its campaign to seize new territory in Eastern Ukraine, making the flow of Western military aid essential, he added. "The United States and our allies and partners are moving as fast as possible to continue to provide Ukraine the...weapons they need. Sharing intelligence was a priority as the war grinds on," he noted. "We"re sharing and will continue to share significant timely intelligence with Ukraine help them against Russia," he noted. "We had a good discussion (with Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal) and we talked about keeping everyone together in terms of Europe, European Union and others, in the effort to stop Putin"s brutality," he added. "It"s so clear to the whole world now. Now [Russia has] launched and refocused their campaign to seize new territory in eastern Ukraine, and we"re in a critical window now of time where they"re going to set the stage for the next phase of this war," he noted. "No ship that sailed under the Russian flag, or that is owned or operated by Russian interests, will be allowed to dock in the United States port or access our shores," he noted. He concluded by saying it was another critical step the US was taking alongside its allies in Canada and Europe to deny Russia the benefits of international economic system that they so enjoyed in the past. — Agencies
