TASI down, Nomu up; gains for insurers and food producer Wafrah

RIYADH: The Saudi main index, also known as TASI, edged lower today, while the parallel market, Nomu, was up. At the closing bell on Tuesday, TASI fell 0.29 percent, while Nomu edged up 0.57 percent. Saudi Enaya Cooperative Insurance Co. rose 9.97 percent to lead the gainers. Among others that ended the session in positive territory, food producer Wafrah for Industry and Development Co. was up 9.90 percent, while Amana Cooperative Insurance Co. rose 9.83 percent. Buruj Cooperative Insurance Co. led the fallers, down 4.43 percent at Tuesday"s closing bell. Aramco, the largest player in the Saudi oil market, was up 1.05 percent at the end of the trading session. In the insurance sector, Salama Cooperative Insurance Co. was up 3.67 percent. In the food and beverage sector, Almarai Co., fell 0.58 percent. Oil prices edged up today. As of 3.40 p.m Saudi time, Brent crude was priced at $103.8 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate was at $99.97 a barrel.
