The Red Wave-5 maneuver of the Western Fleet, implemented by the Royal Saudi Naval Forces with the participation of the Red Sea coastal countries of Djibouti, Egypt, Jordan, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen in addition to the Royal Saudi Land Forces, Royal Saudi Air Forces and Saudi Border Guard, has concluded, it was reported Friday. Commander of the Western Fleet Rear Admiral Yahya bin Mohammed Asiri, who also led the drill which wrapped up on Thursday, said the Red Wave-5 maneuver witnessed a number of combat operations, the clearance of fortified sites, intrusion and live fire in support of combat aircraft and helicopters to carry out tactical tasks aiming to achieve the joint task principle. He said the drill aims at enhancing military cooperation, unifying of concepts, raising the combat readiness and exchange of experience that would contribute to upgrading the capabilities to protect the seas and regional and international water passages and guarantee maritime navigation in the Red Sea. — SPA
