Riyadh Municipality cuts electricity, water to 605 violating sites run by expatriates

The Riyadh Municipality has announced that within 6 months, the joint operations room has cut electricity and water meters of 605 violating sites that were found to be run by expatriates without obtaining regular licenses in the center of Riyadh. The municipality said that it had cut off the electricity to 481 locations, while the water meters were disconnected in 124 locations in the center of Riyadh. During the monitoring process, it was found out that the violating sites included old houses, in addition to apartments, shops, warehouses, rest houses, and courtyards, the municipality confirmed. The measures taken against violators aim to limit the activities in violation of state regulations, as well as prevent the use of buildings for purposes other than it was allocated and established for. The procedures also aim to address violations in the neighborhoods of central Riyadh, in addition to arresting workers who engage in irregular activities.
