Bahrain’s King reshuffles cabinet

King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain ordered a Cabinet reshuffle on Monday, appointing 17 ministers, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported. The royal order appointed Sheikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa as deputy prime minister and minister of infrastructure, Zayed bin Rashid Al Zayani as industry and commerce minister and Fatima bint Jaafer al Sairafi as tourism minister. Mohammed bin Mubarak Bin Dainah, who was the country"s envoy for climate affairs, was named minister of oil and environment, replacing Oil Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa. Crown Prince and Prime Minister Salman bin Hamad al-Khalifa said the reshuffle “will bring new ideas and a renewed drive to continue advancing the public sector,” BNA quoted him as saying. “The reshuffle, the largest in the country’s history, has resulted in a change of 17 out of 22 ministers, with the introduction of a large proportion of young ministers, including four females,” a government spokesperson said. The other appointments include Jamil Humaidan as Minister of Labor; Wael Al-Mubarak as Minister for Municipalities and Agriculture Affairs; Dr. Mohammed bin Daina as Oil and Environment Minister; Mohammed Al-Kaabi as Transportation and Communications Minister; Ibrahim Al-Hawaj as Minister of Works; Yousef Khalaf as Minister of Legal Affairs; Osamah Al-Osfoor as Minister of Social Development; Yasser Humaidan as Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs; Dr. Jalila Jawad as Minister of Health; Nawaf Al-Maawdah as Minister of Justie, Islamic Affairs and Endowments; Hamad Al-Malki as Minister of Cabinet"s Affairs; Amna Al-Rumaihi as Minister of Housing and Urban Planning; Noor Al-Khulaif as Minister of Sustainable Development; and Dr. Ramzan Al-Nuaimi as Minister of Media Affairs. — Agencies
