China, India lead Saudi Arabia’s merchandise trade in April: GASTAT data

RIYADH: China, India, and South Korea remain Saudi Arabia’s main trading partners, as the Kingdom"s overall merchandise exports increased by 98 percent to SR137 billion ($36.51 billion) in April, up from SR69.3 billion in April 2021, according to the General Authority for Statistics. The government data revealed that Saudi Arabia’s exports to China amounted to SR23.4 billion in April 2022, accounting for 17 percent of the total exports. India and South Korea followed next with 10.6 percent and 8.8 percent of the total exports respectively during the same period. Other countries that ranked in Saudi Arabia’s top 10 export destinations include Japan, the US, the UAE, Taiwan, Egypt, Bahrain, and Belgium. Saudi Arabia’s exports to these 10 countries amounted to SR90 billion, accounting for 65.6 percent of the total exports, the GASTAT report added. When it comes to imports, China also leads the table with SR11.0 billion worth of outbound merchandise to Saudi Arabia, accounting for 19.8 percent of Saudi’s total imports in April. It was followed by the US and India which accounted for 9.9 percent and 6.9 percent of Saudi Arabia’s total imports. The UAE, Japan, Germany, Egypt, Italy, France and Oman were the other countries that ranked in Saudi’s top 10 countries, with SR35.2 billion worth of inbound merchandise, accounting for 63.6 percent of total imports.
