I can’t help but feel great sadness and sorrow about the loss of former Prime Minister Abe Shinzo, a man who drove Japan"s standing in the world higher through his exceptional diplomatic skills. It is hard to believe how such an important statesman lost his life, betrayed by someone shooting him from behind while delivering an election speech on Friday morning to end the life of one of Japan"s top modern-era politicians who devoted his life to his nation. The feeling of shock has swept us all, as well as that a treacherous gunshot caused Japan and the world to lose a man of peace and a loyal friend. Oman has expressed sincere condolences and sympathy to the friendly government and people of Japan and his family. I had the chance to meet him, and I could recognize his noble manners, kindness, and humility. His decisiveness and deep understanding of internal and global events were admirable. Abe"s role in consolidating bilateral relations has been recognized and, during his tenure, our ties witnessed great growth and a remarkable leap and development at all levels. Abe realized the importance of achieving Japan"s goals through dialogue and communication and was skilled in designing effective economic policies named after him. Abenomics lived and (was) still adopted in Japan for years, helping the economy of this country withstand hard times. Abe"s memory will remain alive in everyone"s heart. I wish his soul rests in peace. Dr. Mohamed Said Al-Busaidi is Oman’s ambassador to Japan
